2001 MAGAZINE
2001 Magazine was established in 2020 by Sienna Jacob and Vanessa Tsehaye to tell Eritrean stories, primarily using Eritrean voices, to inspire people to join the movement for change and fight for the betterment of the circumstances of Eritrean refugees.
In 2001, Dictator Isaias Afwerki brutally dismantled the free press with the intent to silence the people. Today, Eritrea is the most censored country in the world, and the people continue to live in constant fear of the systemic human rights abuses under Afwerki’s regime. 2001 Magazine aims to give Eritrean people a voice and platform to share their stories.
